Humanities Education for Anti-racism Literacy (HEAL) in the Sciences and Medicine

Funded by Mellon Foundation

Earth Partnership is a collaborator on this project, a university-wide initiative to advance anti-racism in higher education. HEAL has supported key aspects of Earth Partnership’s Indigenous Arts and Sciences work, including:

  1. Implement and share the IAS Science Education model as a way to address academic inequities.
  2. Improve  and strengthen multiple pathways  for Native students to STEMM careers.
  3. Increase recruitment, retention, and graduation of Native students in higher education.
  4. Educate students and educators to work towards social justice, equity, inclusivity, and sustainability in relationship to the land and each other.
  5. Identify best practices among collaborations between the Karuk Tribe and University of Washington and UW-Madison and Tribal partners with a focus on land restoration, stewardship, and Tribal/university relationships.
